I have always loved portraiture. I have this deep rooted fear when I meet someone that I will forget what their face looks like.  I try to memorize the shapes, the lines and the shadows - I try to absorb all the vivid detail so that when I remember their words, their thoughts, I also remember the shape of their mouth or the way their eyes have a voice of their own.  (If I've ever forgotten your name, this is why.)

I'm closing down my print shop for a little while.  I've been wanting to move into exclusively original work for a while but I've been taking time to figure out what that looks like for me. I've started a series called Sweet-tarts. I'm stealing selfies from my friends - painting their faces in true form - allowing color to amplify their qualities.
